Are you passionate about changing the next generation? Join our dedicated team of board members working to change students' lives through education.

Wayne Christian Academy is an independent, non-denominational Christian school serving Wayne and surrounding counties. WCA was incorporated in 2013 as a non-profit, 501(c)(3). We seek board members with integrity, grit, and dedication to advancing our mission within communities.

Our current board boasts diverse backgrounds in experience, skills, employment, gender, and church membership.

The school board is a 5 member, self-perpetuating board that both nominates and votes for nominees when a replacement is needed. Board candidates are then screened, interviewed, and evaluated to determine potential for a successful partnership. The school board nominates candidates for board president and elects officers and members by a majority consensus. Before official membership is confirmed, all board members must declare faith in Christ through personal testimony as well as agree to the school's statement of faith, attendance requirements, and expectations of board members as declared in the policy manual.

  1. Board Terms: Board members may serve as long as they desire unless a serious conflict arises that could negatively impact the school’s success. In such a case, membership may be revoked by fellow board members’ unanimous consensus.

  2. Composition: Aims for 5-7 members, who may or may not be parents of WCA students.

  3. Meetings: Currently in-person; monthly August-May

  4. Primary Function: The board’s primary function is to establish vision and unity among administrators, faculty, and staff, while creating a culture of excellence based on Christian values and philosophies. When disputes arise, the board facilitates harmonious solutions such as reconciling differences, making compromises, and intentionally supporting students, faculty, and staff. Other functions include but are not limited to: hiring and evaluating the head of school, determining and approving budgets, establishing spending priorities, approving curriculum philosophy and expenditures, reviewing the school’s annual academic performance, adopting the annual school calendar, and working closely with school stakeholders on issues regarding school safety, discipline, instructional resources, facility maintenance and improvements. The WCA school board is also responsible for collaborating with partners who wish to express concerns and explaining the school’s policies and philosophies to the larger community. The board  provides guidance to the Head of School, while the Head remains the liaison between the board and administrators, staff, and committees.
